Group SMS

Windows phones has since it was born lacked the ability to easily send a SMS message to a predefined group of contacts.

Group SMS solves this with a finger friendly interface where you can create, edit and assign members to groups. All the groups are stored as Categories in Outlook so they are synchronized between devices and your desktop if you are running Exchange/myPhone.

To send a Group SMS you simply start the application, select the group(s) and the default messaging application is started with prepopulated receivers. You type your text and press Send. All your messages are stored in your Sent items folder.

NB! Some devices have a limit on how many recievers you can add.

Features

  • Send text messages to groups of contacts
  • Add, edit and assign members to groups inside the application
  • All messages are stored in your Sent messages folder

Screenshots

I’ve done some work on the Group SMS lately and here are some screenshots of what the final product probably will look like.

Download

The application is available at Marketplace for mobile. Currently only in the US – English store.

If you have troubles using the direct link please search for “Group SMS” in your local Marketplace or try the link to the search by clicking here:

Search for Group SMS

Microsoft has released “World view” to Marketplace. If you live in another region you can use “Settings” in the mobile client to browse foreign markets and buy applications. If you selelect the US – English market you should be able to download Group SMS. You find it in the Communcation category. If you browse the Marketplace from your desktop you can switch to other markets by using the dropdown box in the bottom right of your screen.
